Shortbread Recipe
Shortbread is an honored preparation in wedding since many decades. Therefore, many couples want to incorporate it either in their weddings or in bridal shower food menu. If you are also thinking to incorporate shortbread in bridal shower food then you must know that there are two recipes of shortbread. The first recipe is the age old recipe of shortbread and the second is its modified preparation. Here, we are going to talk about both of these, you can follow any one of these which suits you more.
Authentic Recipe of Shortbread:

Serves: 8-10 people
Ingredients:
- Oatmeal flour 3 cups
- Butter 2 cups
- White sugar 1 cup
You will require a large bowl to mix all these ingredients. Mix butter and sugar in this bowl and beat it until it becomes smooth, creamy, and floppy mixture. Now, keep adding oatmeal flour in it with the help of spoon while you are beating the mixture/batter. Meanwhile, preheat the oven on 150C. Knead the mixture into dough. Now, make small balls of this dough, press it, and give biscuit like shape. Take a baking plate and brush some butter to it. Now, put all these biscuits in the plate and put the plate in oven to bake for half an hour. After, half an hour take out the tray from oven and check whether the biscuits are baked or not. If these are not fully baked then keep the tray in oven for more than half an hour. Now, bring out the tray from oven and let the cookies come to room temperature. It will take around 15 minutes. Now, your authentic shortbread is ready to be served. You can garnish it with a small piece of grated chocolate, or cashew, or slices of almond or raisin.
Modified Recipe of Shortbread:

Ingredients:
- All purpose flour 3 cups
- Butter 1 and ½ cups
- Powder sugar 1 cup
- Vanilla essence 1 and ½ teaspoon
- Salt ½ teaspoon
Beat the butter and powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add salt in it and beat it again. Now, add all purpose flour in this mixture and keep beating for 5-10 minutes. Once the batter becomes smooth add vanilla essence in it and beat it again. Now, make small biscuits of it. Brush some butter on oven-proof baking tray and put all these biscuits on it with some space between each of them. Preheat the oven at 150 C for 10 minutes and then put this tray in the oven. Bake these biscuits for half an hour. Check whether these are baked fully or not. If not, then bake them for more than half an hour. After switching off the oven, bring out the tray and let the biscuits cool down to room temperature. Now, your shortbread is ready to eat.
Variations:
- You can make some variations in these biscuits like you can use ¾ cups of all purpose flour and ¼ cups of rice flour or corn flour.
- You can garnish shortbreads with various types of dry fruits, jams, and jellies.
- You can use raisins, peanut butter, or caramel to make some difference in shortbreads.
