Tomato Dip Recipe
Tomato dips are a favorite of almost all of us. If you are thinking to keep special tomato dip for bridal shower, then it would be a good idea as tomato dip is liked by kids and elderly also. If you are thinking to keep menu like tortilla, finger chips, nachos, bread sticks, garlic bread, crackers, pasta and other types of chips then tomato dip would be the best combination with all these. Here we are going to talk about three types of special tomato dips and these all taste good almost with each and every finger food.
Special tomato dip (spicy)
Cooking Time: 20-25 minutes
Difficulty level: Easy
Ingredients:
- 2 medium sized red and ripe tomatoes
- 1 onion
- 2 tablespoon Olive oil
- 3 garlic clove (if you want to make it less spicy take on 1or 2 cloves)
- 1 Green chili
- 1 dried bay leaf
- 2 teaspoon of cilantro
- 1 teaspoon of Black pepper powder
- ½ teaspoon of red chili flakes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoon tomato ketch up
Preparation:
- Chopped the onion, green chili, garlic clove, cilantro, and tomatoes finely.
Method: Make the pan hot. Now, add olive oil in the pan. After the olive oil become warm, add finely chopped onion and sauté it for 3-4 minutes until the onion become transparent. Now, add chopped green chili, garlic, and bay leaf and keep stirring for 1 minute. Now, it is time to add chopped tomatoes, salt and red chili flakes. Stir it well and let it cook for 10 minutes, until the tomatoes soften. Stir the mixtures in between to avoid sticking or burning. Now, remove the bay leaf from the mixture. After the tomatoes are cooked well, blend the mixture by hand blender and make a smooth puree. Now, add black pepper and cilantro powder in it. Add tomato ketch up and then stir it well again. Remove it from flame and now your special tomato dip is ready to serve.
Variations:
- You can add basil leaves or oregano to get some different flavor and taste.
- If there are kids among your guests, you can garnish it with grated cheese.
- You can add one teaspoon sugar in it (when you add salt) to make it hot and sweet.

Ingredients –
- Mayo ½ cup
- Cream cheese spread 1 tub
- Fresh Tomatoes 2 (you can use dried tomatoes also)
- Freshly crushed black pepper 1 teaspoon
- Fresh Spinach or frozen spinach ½ bunch or box
- Sour cream 2 teaspoon
- Fresh chives 2 tablespoon
- Artichoke hearts 1 small jar
- Garlic clove 1(to make it spicy add 2-3 clove more)
- Salt
Preparation –
- Clean all vegetables thoroughly and then chop each one finely. Keep all of these separately.
Method –
Mix all vegetables and all other ingredients in it and mix it well. Now, blend it either with hand blender or in food processor. Make sure, you will blend it till it becomes a smooth puree.
Variations –
If you do not like the smell of raw vegetables, then you can cook them. Make a pan hot. Add olive oil in it and then pour the puree in the pan, add salt and crushed pepper. Let it boil. Slow down the flame once it starts boiling; let it cook for 5 minutes. Keep stirring the mixture, otherwise it will stick to the bottom and glow. Now, put off the flame and add sour cream in it, mayo, and cream cheese spread in it. You can garnish this dip with grated cheese or cheese spread.
Tomato and Asiago Cheese Dip
Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes
Difficulty level: Easy
Ingredients –
- Fresh tomatoes 2
- Mushroom (chopped) 4 tablespoon
- Green onion (chopped) 4 tablespoon
- Asiago cheese 2/3 cup
- Mayonnaise 1 cup
- Sour cream 1 cup
- Salt according to taste
Method –
Cut the tomatoes in strips. Add the sour cream, Asiago cheese, mayonnaise, mushrooms, and onion together and blend it well to make a smooth and creamy puree. Now, take the tomato strips and put them in a bowl (microwave safe bowl) and put the dip on each strip of tomato with the help of spoon. Keep the microwave on 120 degree. Now, keep the bowl in microwave for five minutes. Your dip is ready to eat. You can garnish it with more cheese.
Tomato is a very healthy vegetable because it is not only nutritious but low in calories. Tomatoes are good source of carotenes (lycopene and beta), vitamin K and C, Vitamin B6, niacin, biotin, fibers, folic acid, and pantothenic acid. Tomato is helpful to lower down the risk of cataracts, heart disease, muscular degeneration and skin, colon, lung, prostate, and breast cancer. Therefore, it is good to have tomatoes (red) in meals, dips, and salads regularly.
