Cucumber Sandwiches Recipe
Bridal showers are usually meant to be "dainty celebrations" where everything from the food to the décor is encouraged to be light and graceful as opposed to heavy, messy and garish. The ideal kind of food for bridal showers happen to be finger foods which are easy to eat and do not require a table for dining at. And what is the most obvious kind of finger foods? That's right, sandwiches! And one of the most popular bridal shower sandwiches around just so happen to be cucumber sandwiches. You may implement cucumbers in a number of ways while preparing your sandwiches, be it triangles or submarine, or even burgers.
Here is a look at the inclusion of cucumbers in the appetizer section of the bridal shower menu course. Let us start with the ingredients:-
- Sliced bread/ submarine buns
- Burger loaves
- Carrots
- Tomatoes (if any one is a fan)
- Mayonnaise
- Cheese slabs
- Cucumber
- Salt and pepper
- Butter
- Pepper, if preferred
Procedure
Basic Little Triangles
You know the deal-
Cut off the corners of the bread and butter the rest.
Slice the cucumbers neatly and place it on the buttered side of the bread.
Sprinkle salt and pepper from salt and pepper shakers on to the cucumber slices.
Cover the slices with another buttered side of the bread.
Take a knife and diagonally cut the sandwich into four little triangles.
Here is your basic little triangles. Enjoy yourself thoroughly.
Double Decker Sandwich
Cut out three bread slices in triangular shapes (butter 'em up and toast them!). Chop cucumber circles and carrot sticks and arrange them on the bottom most layer of the sandwich. Garnish the veggies with salt and pepper. Put another bread layer on the veggies. Lather on the mayo onto the second layer.
Now when it comes to sandwiches, there is one ingredient which tends to be extremely polarizing amongst people- the one, the only Tomato Rings! While some party attendants find the pulpy juice to be a great addition to the overall density of the sandwich taste, there are loads of other folk who just cannot stand the squishiness of the tomato fruit (yes, technically the tomato is a fruit, at least based on how it grows on the tomato plant!). It is for this reason alone that you may need to think whether to include tomato rings on the mayo spread second layer or not. You may even consider including tomato rings only in a few of your cucumber sandwiches and segregate the tomato containing sandwiches from the tomato free sandwiches. Do this so that the guests do not have to sit and grope through all of the sandwiches just to check for the presence of tomato.
Sprinkle pepper over the mayo spread layer for that extra spunky flavor. Now you may put on the very last layer of the sandwich on top of this mayo layer.
Voila! Your double decker sandwich is prepared already! Arrange them in neat stacks one on top of the other or sitting next to each other in vertical positions. Whichever your preference may be!
Note: If you are taking inspiration from Subway or Burger King you may substitute sliced bread for burger loaves or submarine buns. You may also stuff in cheese amongst your cucumbers and carrots for a zany taste (try it at your own risk though!).
You know what else would be an excellent concept for satisfying bridal shower guests of varying tastes at the exact same time?
"Do It Yourself" Sandwiches / Mix n Match Sandwiches
What are "Do It Yourself" sandwiches, you ask? Well, after all you do end up making regular sandwiches all by yourself so what is this phony baloney title all of a sudden? Isn't that what is going through your head right now? Well, the "Yourself" in "Do It Yourself" refers to the guest, not the organizer or cook of the bridal shower.
But how can the guest prepare his or her own cucumber sandwiches? And why is he or she supposed to do so anyways? Isn't that why the organizers are there for at the bridal shower?
Well, as we previously saw in the case of tomato rings, not everyone may be a fan of the exact same thing and given the hectic schedule of a bridal shower planner, there may not be enough time to prepare various varieties of the same sandwich for different guests. It is for this reason that you may have a table reserved only for various assorted sliced and diced vegetables arranged on trays alongside neatly sliced and toasted bread. Guests may prepare their own sandwiches (for the strict vegetarians, even the mayo spread may be kept separate instead of being applied beforehand on the sliced bread, burger and submarine buns).
In this manner, everyone wins. Guests get to choose their own ingredients for their sandwiches and every unique carpal sensibility is satisfied at the bridal shower. People may even get a kick out of preparing their own sandwiches from the provided raw material (the veggies of course). And best of all, it is the organizers’ work which is reduced by a decent amount. Time is saved to give attention to more pressing issues regarding the shower.
Bridal Shower Sandwich Tip
Always keep your sandwiches covered. Otherwise, they may end up drying out even before the bridal shower guests have arrived on the spot.
