Sticky Sausages Recipe
the bridal shower menu list. Except for a few exceptional "must haves", there are no hard and fast rules dictating what should and what should not be included on the bridal shower menu list. However, if you have already browsed through some other abridalshower.com pages regarding the shower menu, you would have noticed how much of your choice of food depends upon the location and convenience of your guests at the bridal shower party. We have already gone on and on narrating the merits of finger foods at bridal showers so there is no need to repeat them again out here.
One of the most typical finger foods which immediately leap to mind happens to be sausages, probably because of all the open grill barbecue imagery. Here we talk about a very special kind of sausage, the hyper delicious sticky sausages! Just mentioning those two words brings a drop to the corners of my mouth!
Sausages, especially sausages on sticks, though not really the best friends of weight watchers, are extremely hard to resist. Also, they are highly convenient to eat and this makes them the perfect finger foods for bridal showers.
This is especially true for bridal showers where finger food is practically demanded of the organizers. Also, if champagne and wine are being served at the shower party, then that would be the perfect time to serve the sausages at the shower, as these sausages make for the perfect cocktail food. It makes much more sense than including them on the appetizer or main course section of the menu.
Here is a quick and easy way of preparing yummy sausages of the sticky kind for your bridal shower party:-
Ingredients
- Sausages (of the small variety)
- Toothpicks (small to medium)
- Sesame seeds
- Honey
- Sticky Rib sauce
- Soy sauce
- Chopped parsley (for garnishing purposes)
Note: The latter five ingredients all happen to be optional in nature.
Procedure
Dribble a little bit of oil on a frying pan. Start frying your sausages on the pan.
Keep turning the sausages occasionally. Do so till they are well prepared.
Empty the sausages from the frying pan onto a cooling tray. Allow your sausages to cool for some time.
Note: If you are using a baking tray then you need to preheat your oven up till the gas mark of four. You need not second-guess you’re cooking technique if the sausages are not showing any immediate signs of change initially. Have patience and the sausages will adopt a crisp, dark brown hue towards the fag end part of the cooking. Do not worry, the sausages take their own sweet time to change in color.
If you want, sprinkle not more than one tablespoon of honey (of the runny kind) on the surface of a separate pan or saucer. Instead of runny honey, it is also perfectly acceptable to use sticky rib sauce (approximately of the same amount).
Now put on your cooking mitten, grab the cooked sausages and start rolling them over the runny honey or the sticky sauce (whichever of the two you are using). Hey, there is a reason sticky sausages are so named!
Next, you may sprinkle some sesame seeds either on the honeyed sausages themselves or you could previously have included the sesame seeds in the honey or rib sauce before rolling the sausages in the mixture.
Taking a cue from English food writer/ broadcaster extraordinaire Nigella Lawson, instead of sticky rib sauce, you may also use soy sauce for dressing the sausages. Soy sauce and honey go together to make an uncanny flavoring for the sausages.
The last step is pretty fun. Take your sticky sausages one by one and put a toothpick through the middle of each sausage; Repeat the procedure for each and every sausage. You may season the sausages with brioche or parsley (which should be chopped and available much beforehand).
Sticky sausages happen to be the most scrumptious treats of all time. Though, not particularly all that obligatory to include at a bridal shower party, you may just include them to impress the bellies of your bridal shower guests. Provided you do not end up finishing all of the sausages yourself before the guests even arrive at the shower.. that happens at times, don't ask!
