Cucumber Sandwiches With Dill

Cucumber and Dill Hearts Sandwiche Sandwiches are preferred by most people at any given point in time for various reasons. The fact that they are easy to make, they are tasty, and you can have plenty of variety in the fillings is what probably makes them the most preferred food option. Bridal shower food is no exception. You can have a variety of sandwiches for a bridal shower especially if you have scheduled it in the morning or afternoon.

They go well with a juice and snacks for breakfast or brunch. You can also have them along with your tea or coffee in the afternoon. Bridal showers are informal in nature and so are sandwiches. They are also very filling; you can just grab one and start your routine.

Ingredients

  • Cucumber-sliced
  • 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
  • salt
  • butter
  • pepper
  • finely chopped dill leaves
  • bread

Method

  • Marinate the cucumber slices with salt and pepper and put them in a drainer. Leave it for a few minutes.
  • Take a slice of bread and apply butter on it. Place the drained cucumber slices. Spread some dill leaves on that. Cover it with buttered bread.
  • Cut it into equal pieces and serve or refrigerate. Your sandwiches are ready to eat.

There are many ways in which you can prepare a cucumber dill sandwich. You can add or modify ingredients. For instance, you can mix dill leaves with spinach or lettuce. You can add onions or tomatoes along with cucumber. You can add boiled potatoes or other salads. You can try fresh cream, onion, and cheese.

You can keep whole sandwiches for your breakfast or brunch. You can arrange some finger sandwiches made of cucumber and dill leaves for your high tea. These are suitable not only for bridal showers but for any occasion. You may or may not grill these sandwiches. Here are a few more recipes of cucumber and dill sandwiches-

Ingredients

  • 1 grated cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon dill leaves
  • Soft cream cheese
  • Mayonnaise
  • ¼ tablespoon dried Italian herbs
  • Bread

Method

Mix all these ingredients well to form a spread. You can store this in an airtight container and refrigerate it till you use. Take a slice of sandwich bread and spread this mixture on it. Cover it with another slice of bread. You can grill this if you want. You can remove the crusts of the bread and cut this whole sandwich into four small pieces especially if you want to serve them for high tea. You need not remove the crusts while serving them for breakfast. You can cut them in rectangular or triangular shape depending on your choice. You can store these in a refrigerator till you want to consume them so that they would not become soggy.

One more idea is to make a topping on bread and serve. You can use the same ingredients or make some additions or modifications. Cut the bread in a circular shape to form a round base. Toast it a little to make it slightly stiff. Apply this spread on the circular portion. Add some more veggies of your choice on the top; for instance, finely chopped capsicum and shredded cabbage. Grate some cheese on this and place this in a pan on medium heat. Cover the pan so that the cheese melts and the capsicum and cabbage are cooked a little. Remove this from the pan after a minute or two and serve

One more method is to cook the dill leaves. Chop the leaves finely and cook them in some water. Once they are cooked they shrink and become softer than before. Use these in portions in your sandwich or bread topping. You can slice some cucumber. Take a slice of bread and apply a thin layer of butter. Take some chopped slightly cooked mushrooms and the cucumber slices and arrange them on the bread. Place 2-3 small portions of the cooked and drained dill leaves on the bread. Grate some cheese on the top and add some salt and pepper to taste. Cover this with another slice of bread. This tastes great.
