Garden Party Games Bridal shower custom originated in 1890 in Canada. It is a gift giving party for the bride, mostly held by bridesmaid or anyone of her well wishers. The concept or assumption behind this party is to help the bride whose father has denied to give a dowry to her or who is not able to gather gifts for her dowry. Nowadays, this concept is changed as almost all brides are earning well and now, grooms do not demand for dowry. Now, the bridal shower party is meant to enjoy, have fun with the bride and spend some quality time with her. Therefore, bridal shower games have become important nowadays.

There are some indoor and garden party games for bridal shower. Garden is the most common venue for bridal shower party and therefore, garden party games are more on demand.

First, you must consider these tips while arranging a bridal shower garden party.

  • Always conduct the bridal shower party either in the morning or evening. If you are planning it to be held in the afternoon then you must cover the garden and make a shadow, so your guests will not be troubled by the sun.
  • Make a comfortable sitting arrangement. Picnic like sitting arrangement is more comfortable and helpful to arrange any game.
  • Keep food items, drinks, and water nearby so, even though any guest feels to drink or eat something, they could go and take it without losing the charm of the party. Without wasting too much time and most importantly without disturbing others.
  • Keep the gifts for the winners away from their sights to create suspense
  • Keep at least 2-3 games for bridal shower
  • Make different sets (of required material) for each game, so you will not be confused while giving required items to the participants

  • Hand over your corsage game

    This game is very entertaining and requires lots of attention and alertness on the part of participants and judges. Tell your guests on their arrival that they are not allowed to say the word "wedding" or "the bride's name". Pin a flower corsage, when they enter in the party area. Tell them to catch the person who utters the prohibited word (wedding or bride’s name). If anyone catches others while saying the forbidden word, should get that person’s corsage and pin it on themselves.

The person with maximum corsages would be the winner and should be honored with some gift.

  • Whiff of herbs game

This game is related to identify herbs. You are going to see how many of the participants can identify these herbs by smelling it. You will require some material for this game and it is:

  • Various types of herbs (it could be 5-10 types of herbs)
  • Sheets of paper or handouts
  • Pens
  • Cups
  • Aluminum foil to cover cups
  • Marker to write numbers on cups

Preparation for this game

  • Keep herbs in cups. One cup should contain one herb only.
  • Cover these cups with aluminum foil and make a small hole in the middle to get aroma of that herb
  • Now give pens and paper handouts to all participants and tell them to write numbers on it

How to play this game?

  • Now pass one cup at a time to all participants and let them sense the aroma
  • Tell them to write their assumption on the paper respectively

After finishing with all herbs, count the number of correct answers of each participant. The person with maximum correct answer will be the winner.

Tossing bouquets

The objective of this game is to see who can make the beautiful bridal bouquet. In this game you provide some craft material to the participants and tell them to make a beautiful bridal bouquet within given time.

Material required for this game

  • Paper plates
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Ribbon
  • Glue
  • Construction or craft paper

Provide these sets of materials to each participant. Set the time like 2 or 5 minutes and tell them to make a bridal bouquet for the bride. The person, who makes most beautiful bridal bouquet among the all participants, will be the winner. Now, tell the bride to toss this bouquet and the person, who catches it, would be the winner. Therefore, you must keep two gift items for this game.

You can honor the winners by giving gifts like soft lotion, aromatic candle or soap, candle tin or box of chocolates or cookies or an extra piece of cake or pastry. This gift should be different from bridal shower favors and should pack nicely and to create suspense for the winner as well as for audience.
