Safety Pin Game

Safety pin is a very enjoyable game for bridal shower party. It is very easy to play and you do not require any physical exertion for this game. Therefore, everybody could play this game, even elderly. If you observe, this type of bridal shower games are played in other culture's wedding traditions also with different names.

The item could be different instead of safety pin but the way to play and the aim of this game is mostly seen in other cultures also. The only difference is that the timing of the game would be different, means mostly this type of games in Indian culture are played after wedding and the bride and groom play it.

Preparation:

• Take 5kg rice bag, preferably long grains. Rice and safety pins shapes are almost same therefore; rice would be the right choice of grain than pulses or wheat.
• Searching a safety pin in pulses or wheat would be easier than rice. So, rice would be the best choice of grain for this game as your guests should find this game trickier.
• Pour this rice bag in big vessel or bowl.
• Take small safety pins around 50 or more in number and mix them well in rice. Increase the number of safety pins as your guests number increases .
• Make an arrangement for blindfold or use soft and cotton cloth to tie on the eyes of the participant.
• Keep watch or stopwatch to count the time (the time allotted to each participant is of 30 seconds).

The way to play

• Keep this rice bowl or vessel in one corner of the room.
• Now, call one guest and blindfold him or her and tell to find out safety pins from the rice as many as he/she can in 30 seconds.
• After completing 30 seconds the guest has to stop searching for the safety pins (you should say stop to the participant).
• Thus, let everyone complete this process one by one.
• Now, count the number of safety pins each guest have.
• The guest with more number of safety pins is the winner.

You can make the difference by putting any other item instead of safety pins to make this game difficult and bring some twist in it. You can use items like:

• Whole grains or pulses will increase the difficulty level of this game as participants will find it difficult to find out the whole grains or pulses from rice.
• Small buttons would be also good option for safety pins
• You can keep small size candies as an object to find out

Keep one more vase filled with rice and the object that is to be found out. This would be helpful, if your guests find out all objects from the first vase and nothing remains for other participants.

You can make the bride and groom to participate in this game. If there are some kids in the party, then let them participate in this game as they would be able to enjoy this more than others. Give some gift to each child in the party for their participation. The gift for kids could be an extra piece of pastry, or a cup cake, or a chocolate or an extra cup or piece of ice cream. Be sure, participation of kids will bring more enthusiasm, laughter and fun in the bridal shower party. So, if any of your guests have kids, tell them to bring their kids in the party as their kids will bring more charm in your party.

You will see how your guests become competitive during this game, but be sure that everyone will enjoy this game thoroughly. You could give some prize to the winner.The prize could be anything like a big chocolate, a coffee mug, aromatic candle, a wine glass, or cookies.
